Our History

1951

Suffolk County Water Authority established by the New York State Legislature to provide public water supply.

1970s

Major expansion of service areas to meet growing suburban demand across central and eastern Suffolk County.

1990s

Implementation of advanced water treatment technologies and aggressive aquifer protection programs.

2010s

Launch of PFAS remediation programs and installation of granular activated carbon treatment systems.

2024

Beginning of $42 million water main replacement program and smart water grid modernization initiative.
